    Got it.
    I was wondering "how is this different from the squid proxy caches we ran between us and the world?"
    Of course that was mostly http then and now everything has become https and basically uncachable.

      Why does it use the filename at all? That requires URL escaping, and invites privacy issues that would otherwise be much less serious (the attacker would have to know what the file was already, to know that you have it).

      Everything else in this space is content addressed AFAIK, probably for good reason. Except where you want to request updates from a persistent key, like Freenet's SSKs, but it looks like Passim needs the hash as a url parameter anyway?
