Phoronix: Reiser4/Reiser5 Updated For Linux 5.8

Edward Shishkin continues pushing ahead with not only maintaining the existing out-of-tree Reiser4 file-system code but also developing Reiser5 seemingly without any major corporate support. Reiser4 and the experimental Reiser5 file-system code were updated on Monday for Linux 5.8 kernel compatibility...

How does Reiser4 compare against other file systems?
Have anyone taken a look at Reiser5? Is it comparable to other modern file systems or is it novel?

I keep asking that on Phoronix every time there's an article on it, but no one ever gives me a useful answer, most likely because either no one is using it or people miss my posts because they can't focus on anything else than "CHANGE THE FRICKIN' NAME" discussions.

iirc there was a white paper wrt Reiser5 that was fairly interesting a while back. I guess Edward is really into filesystem progress.

Finally, a sane Reiser thread for once.

As long as it continues out of our way, I believe no one has objections( even tough I think the project should be renamed..).

So awkward and quiet in here. Like when people see the Bill Gates/ID2020 and Epstein photos/flight logs.

I've heard that reiser4 is very flexible in case of extending, because uses plugins. And second thing is that this file system manages very smoothly folders contain over 1 million files. Look at this table comparing a lot of files systems.

That's just a wikipedia table, hardly evidence.
