          It seems like mainly a courtesy and to alleviate the need for Linus to communicate as much. Someone can always check the git log to see if there patch was accepted or not, I am sure.

            And this bot being written by Linus, you know that eventually it will evolve into the "Next Big Thing!" like everything else he started.
            Probably it's going to eventually become the dev's/geek's equivalent to a Siri/Alexa/Cortana/OkGoogle assistant.

            Within 5 years, it'll probably get a full blown universal AI neural net.
            Within 10-15 years, it's going to become sentient-ish

            By the time of Linus' death, the latest backup of his consciousness will be (git-) pushed and merged into the bot, making him the first opensource benevolent dictator for afterlife.
