    Along with 0.7.10 ZoL released 0.8.0-rc1 with many new features like native dataset encryption, device removal, channel programs, allocation classes and more.

            There are still some issues, for example no support for TRIM / Discard and double caching with L2ARC and Linux Page Cache. Solaris is pretty much dead, therefore not really relevant but generally ZoL pulls features from OpenZFS so FreeBSD will always be ahead in that regard. Perhaps this is negated by Linux Kernel performance advantages, but I haven't seen a benchmark recently.

              Not quite right. It's true that all implementations pulls from OpenZFS reference repository but they evolve on their own. Encryption was implemented in ZFS on Linux and was available only there. TRIM implementation in FreeBSD will be replaced with new one derived from Nexenta (Illumos), what will be pulled from FreeBSD is Zstandard compression.
