No. SUSE is exclusively GNOME. They can't ship unaudited kde code. kde happens to be shipped on OpenSUSE as default because it really doesn't matter to SUSE. That is about to change because the Wayland transition is ongoing at SUSE now.

SLE (if that's what you're referring to) has been Gnome for many, many years, and had nothing to do with "unaudited KDE" (whatever the hell that means). If I recall correctly, it had more to do with competing with RedHat in the enterprise, and the desire of companies to only have to support one desktop environment. But this is going back 14 years or more, and has absolutely nothing to do with modern KDE decisions, as you seem to imply.

The fact that it's almost indistinguishable from Unity shows excellently how pointless it was to develop their own DE in the first place.

Of course, because nothing at all changed between Gnome 3.0 and 3.24 over the past 7 years.

This is the very reason why there is trust in Wayland. One of the main reasons why we need Wayland is security, i.e. preventing apps from reading screen contents. Wayland now does that, but it will now need to provide a way for the few trusted apps to be able to read screen contents. But I agree with you, if screen sharing is not there then Wayland should not be the default just yet.

I am not sure that the window placement/positioning for GNOME/GTK on Wayland is as good as on X.org.

Perhaps Mutter or gnome-shell backend on Wayland isn't as good as the one X.
It feels like X places the windows smarter, while Wayland places the windows weirdly.

I liked unity, and hate gnome, but this looks okay. I hope they continue to theme away as much of the gnome experience as possible.

Many people do not know what they say, it's just a minority of users who use Gnome despite being installed by default in distros I've seen a lot of surveys and Gnome is a little used poorer. It is much more popular Xfce or whatever .... how do you say that Gnome is a reference ...

The professional Linux world has decided....it's Red Hat / Fedora / CentOS and Ubuntu / Debian with GNOME.

You still have popular distros out of those, Manjaro is quite popular for regular users, thriving community. Arch Linux is quite popular for programmers, not ideal for a server running a production environment but pretty nice for development on a workstation. Quite a few companies maintain AUR packages for their software, or someone else has made it available. I find that to be less the case on other distros, sometimes even the big ones you mention depending on software.

If the KDE-ites want to change that perception then make KDE better. I would suggest that openSuse work on KDE as much as Red Hat and now Ubuntu works on GNOME. For one thing KDE is BUTT ugly with its Windows XP like look combined with the god awful Flat colorless icon schemes. If I wanted flat and colorless I would have bought a monochrome Mac Classic. Plus stop vomiting buttons everywhere.

Windows XP like look? You know KDE is quite customizable right? Just like how Ubuntu is changing up how they present Gnome to their users, other distros do similar with KDE, I believe Manjaro might be a good example of that. Here's a few:

And thirdly....stop adding 500 mb + of dependencies in every single program that is made with KDE Frameworks. If I want to use Skrooge accounting program on my Ubuntu Gnome desktop I'm practically downloading KDE 5 just without the DE.

I'm not going to look into that, but I'd say it's a safe bet that whatever KDE dependencies are pulled in(I'm guessing Qt is a big one?) any other KDE apps would utilize it too, not pull 500mb+ again, so kind of a redundant statement? What size is dependencies when pulling in a GTK app into a system that has no GTK apps either?

Just install the Dash to Dock Gnome Shell extension. Job done.
