    With Xfce distros,maintainers claim that xfce-mixer can not be ported to gstreamer 1.0 and that is the (false) reason to start using pulseaudio and pavucontrol instead. QasMixer works with alsa and gstreamer, so this move to gnome stuff is just typical political and will have a bad effect for every linux distro reputation. Gstreamer is lighter and faster than pulseaudio, gstreamer does not need any configuration and uses 0-1% cpu time.

      The fuck are you talking about? GStreamer isn't even on the same layer as Pulseaudio. The two are absolutely not comparable.
      In fact, GStreamer would sit on top of Pulseaudio, on a system that uses PA.
