Sad to say that AMD laptops aren't much better if the goal is "100% working out of the box", I went out of my way to get a Ryzen 6000 series laptop because I wanted AV1 hardware decoding while also avoiding this IPU6 camera nonsense Intel is pulling, and I end up running straight into VAAPI issues that are so bad that they either cause the whole system to crash at worst or cause video to end up corrupt one way or the other at best, so now I can't have any hardware decoding enabled at all whereas I at least had H.264 decode back with my old Skylake laptop. At least I'm fortunate in that I haven't seen much in the way of power management issues (can't say that with the NoVideo GTX 960M to put it mildly), and for gaming purposes it's working quite well so far.

TL;DR: pick your poison, but you're getting some either way.
