Stupid is using a old absolet kernel with a new is stable for a lot time with a big kernel team. For Amd users kernel 4.14 is not useful. And probaly linux 4.18 comes with ubuntu 18.04.2 and mainline kernel never works like it should, a lot of warnings, bugs and incompatible stuff, ubuntu modified kernel are much better for desktop/laptop use
