    Phoronix: KDE's Krita 3.0 Officially Released

    It feels like it took an eternity in retrospect, but the Krita 3.0 release of this KDE sketching and digital painting program is now available...

    Yes... We started working on Krita 3 in April last year: http://www.valdyas.org/fading/index....gkritaqt5.html -- which means we needed about 14 months to complete the port. Better than with the Qt 3 to Qt 4 transition, where it took years, plus four released to get something approaching stability. But it was still a long, hard road!

    On the other hand, we went on releasing feature releases of Krita 2.9 right until February of this year, which makes it only a couple of months between the last release and this one!

    But $DEITY, am I glad we've reached this point...

          Good news, this is one of those free software tools than looks like a true privative solution. Seems to be than the money recolected in the last years is showing where it went.
          But, is it now faster than photoshop? Because that's what the kickstarter page was claiming than was the goal for the 3.0 version. Probably not in every aspect, but there has to be something than his tool is now doing faster than photoshop. Even if it is not, its good to see all the improvements

            Looks like it entered into Arch Testing, from a overview it looks like things are working pretty well.
