    x2, I manage ~80 RHEL servers at work. Had a GNOME 2 GUI on all the RHEL6 machines, because why not. As they get upgraded to RHEL7 however, I'm forgoing the GUI. Can't stand the obtuse GNOME 3 way of doing things. On the handful of RHEL 7 workstations we maintain, I've replaced GNOME 3 with MATE.

    As an enterprise vendor, Red Hat should know better than to force a drastic and controversial UI change on their users.

        I know I may be walking into a minefield by asking this, but why does gtk (and by extension the Gnome Foundation) use its own object system in C, instead of using C++ or Objective-C? Or even figure out how to make a toolkit that does not involve overly complex object systems?
