      one really does not have to be rocket scientist to know why. to provide uniform handling and presentation over all gnome applications.

        This would be a very nice addition to IDEs.

        Such as GNOME Builder, Anjuta, Xamarin Studio, etc.

          in fact, this work was originally done for Gnome Builder and then landed into Gtk

            This is excellent and will come in hand, allowing app developers to have their custom short-cuts accessible quickly. Blender, Pitivi, Darktable, Inkscape, etc., could all benefit from it.
