If that's what Windows 8 metro looked like it wouldn't have 5% market share.
It looks good. Cant wait to give it a spin.

W-what? Can you please make a screenshot, because it looks totally different to me.

            Checklist for OSS DE:
If it doesn't use gradients -> Looks like Windows 8/Metro
If it does use transparencies -> Looks like Windows vista/7
If it uses gray -> Looks like OSX
If it uses glossy colors -> Looks like OS9 and Windows XP
If it uses round icons -> Looks like iOS
If it uses blue/white -> Looks like Android 4+
If it uses green/orange -> Looks like Android <4

            What color/style is left?

The bar looks great, but the applications still look nasty. Why change one and not the other? It should just be a matter of making a Qt/Kwin theme to match, no?

What you see Oxygen being used as the Widget Theme. The new style is called Breeze. Breeze will ship piece by piece until all of it is already. There will be no big unveiling for the Breeze theme. Follow Planet KDE to hear of all this by the way. Nothing I'm going to post is a secret or exclusive to mailing lists.

1)Cursor Theme: Done and is now the default for Plasma Next.

2)Window Decoration: This part as been prototyped as an Aurorae theme engine version. However, it won't be shipped as default until a C++ version is done for performance reasons.

                3) Widget Theme has come far. For Plasma's first release a toned down version of Oxygen (still being considered) may be the default until Breeze is ready.
                a) Qt4 version has a QtCurve version. No idea if that's all Qt4 is getting but it's close to the original as possible for QtCurve.
                b) QtQuickControls (QML for Desktop) is basically done.

                4) Plasma (Desktop) Theme is mostly done. In fact there is a light theme called Breeze (as seen in the picture has better contrast than Air theme from Plasma 1) and a separate dark theme.

                5) Color scheme is mostly done. However, the Plasma developers asked for more contrast in colors.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of that flat look, so I'm probably not going to use the Breeze widget theme. The dark Plasma theme looks nice, though.
