    Michael :

I have requested a nearest neighbor scaling mode (1 pixel becomes 4 pixels) for various drivers, see:

    intel:

    amdgpu:

    radeon:

    nouveau:

    NVIDIA proprietary:

As you can see from the comments from Chris Wilson on the Intel thread, it actually turned out that nearest neighbor scaling could be achieved with xrandr.

He has created a patch for xrandr which makes it possible to use nearest neighbor scaling with xrandr, see:

Maybe you could create a news about this ?

    Very well said.

You don?t have to remark what I just have said. I have six posts, yes, and you too, but that's exactly the situation I was talking about: you can make 6 posts in a day, sometimes I write two paragraphs and I'm concerned about others understanding my english. In this particular case I wrote " I don't think this news is not important" and you understood the opposite.

I respect what he does with his site, I can't question it's a successful site and it would be ridiculous to say he's an idiot for whatever reason. The title of this article is just more of a blog entry than a news tabloid and I wasn't aware phoronix.com could be taken as a blog too because there are no reason to think like that when you enter the main page. Knowing this I accept phoronix as it is and I'm prepared to read "articles" that are written from a very subjective point of view.

The Notebook which had the highest DPI until the UH90/L launched (Chromebook Pixel) exclusively runs Linux.

There's a DPI setting on the graphics tab of winecfg in case you haven't noticed. I have never touched it so no idea how well it works.

I was wondering why nobody had mentioned NoSquint for Firefox either on this article or the previous one until someone finally did.

I don't have a really high DPI display. For my 15 inch 1680x1050 display I have found the DPI setting in XFCE plus NoSquint to be sufficient for everything except some Wine software. Wine doesn't seem to know much about DPI, but I haven't really looked into solving that because I don't really use anything in Wine that is too problematic.

There is alway Bodhi Linux for HiDPI setups. It's worked for the resolutions I've asked of it so far, but of course, I don't have any really high DPI hardware at the moment.

I know enough this forums to expect to be treated like a "new member with only five posts" or a "troll Unity/Canonical/Ubuntu hater". I don't think this news is not important, if Unity has a better support than Xfce for some feature on some hardware, you just write that. It simply sounds unprofessional for a website like this.

Here's the problem with what you said.
First, I am literally just as new.
Second, you only have -now 6- posts and it just seems silly to log in just to ask why he has to read something on someone else's website.
Third, just because it isn't important to you, doesn't mean that it isn't important to others here.

There, that is literally what my post said. I wasn't trying to be discriminatory. Just keep in mind it's his site and to respect his right to do whatever he wants with it. Heck, he's the only one that actually has a linux news site that is, well, functioning, regularly updated, and overall, successful. That in itself deserves a little more respect.

Knowing this is not a serious website as I thought then it's fine. It's not the same a journalism web project than a personal matter oriented website. But I would expect to know from the first time I enter the site it can become sort of personal.

"Unity 7 performance is better than Xfce 4.10 handling (insert HiDPI capable hardware)". That's what I expected, now I know sometimes I'll get that and sometimes I won't.
