    German tax payer money will get wasted anyway, at least this money is not going to the usual climate and "sea rescue" NGOs the German government likes to fund.

      And while it's implemented, some apps won't handle it well. Steam noticeably doesn't, and will think that the scaled down resolution is the native one, and pass that information to games, which will refuse to display at native resolution.
      This protocol is for Wayland clients so obviously it won't magically fix X11 clients or even Wayland clients that doesn't support this protocol.
