Who would have thought that changing the toolkit API with every minor version would be such a hassle in moving GIMP to a more modern codebase For me, GTK is dead since 4.0 - GDK_DPI_SCALE is no more and fractional scaling is a sad, blurry joke - I literally can't use any software based on it with my 123DPI panel (requiring 1.28125x scaling) anymore.

I like how everybody is talking about GIMP slow development ignoring the fact that this version brought initial CMYK support. One of the most requested feature is finally starting to take shape.

Honestly disagree. GIMP got its UI and the icon modernized, usable and easier to read. The UI is far more friendly than the mess that is Adobe Photoshop.

Not having legacy libraries on your system lowers the system maintenance burden and should have no effect on your artwork.
Because of missing fractional scaling support Gimp2 is practically useless for me, because it is completely blurry.

There is a typo is this article: "alternative to the likes of Adobe Photoshop" should have been "alternative to the likes of MS PAINT"

    I think it's Krita!

(even being proved that for some extra-pro rare *special* cases it may lack one or two needed features)

It's - in my opinion - a better image manipulator that GIMP...

But that's just my personal opinion...
I agree with you. I'm no professional, but I like Krita's workflow and look and feel a whole lot better.
