Meh... They don't do the exact same things but you can accomplish the same result with both... And krita as a way-better GUI... And some other tools also...

GIMP is great if you need to:
    - edit and crop photos
    - separate image pieces into independent layers
    - change colors
    - photoshop Sean Connery into furry porn

Krita on the other hand is great for:
    - drawing furry porn
I think a shotgun would be better in both cases

So those same "advanced or pro artists" learned how to use Photoshop in 1 hour? I would even question how advanced and pro they are if they fail to do even simple stuff in Gimp. Im none of those and learned to use Gimp long before there were youtube tutorials just by trial and error.

Yes Gimp can't cover all workflows that Photoshop does but it's slowly getting there. If you're doing web design for example it's very much capable.

open source but it’s the best image editor today and the license is very cheap) rather than GIMP though.
Yes, Krita is another wonderful piece of software. Its goal is little different as far as I remember, but I wasn't using it lately, so I may be wrong.

If Gimp would had been received more love from users maybe it would get some features earlier, but better continuing to use FotoSchiop Pirate instead!

Is there any FREE, LIBRE & OPEN SOURCE software advanced and feature rich as nuch as GIMP to edit and manipulate images?

If not, then GIMP is THE BEST open source tool to perform such tasks!

    I think it's Krita!

(even being proved that for some extra-pro rare *special* cases it may lack one or two needed features)

It's - in my opinion - a better image manipulator that GIMP...

But that's just my personal opinion...
Krita is great put it is a paint and illustrator tool, GIMP is a image manipulation editor, they don't do the exact same things even though they overlap in many areas.

Thank you. Can you please post a screenshot of the bluriness? It should show the toolbar, mainbar, and such.

    Thanks again.

I don't consider Photoshop to be the best UI, on the contrary. But Adobe has a long user traction, they somehow can have an awful UI.

There are lots similar software with a lot better UIs, many used in film industry.

Not having legacy libraries on your system lowers the system maintenance burden and should have no effect on your artwork.
scaling issues are bad. but also workflow matters. not having sensible shortcuts to tools I commonly use, or being a hassle to set up said shortcuts, has a direct effects on profits. time is money after all
