        The code release was just something that they had on the roadmap in 2010 and it was taken off because they quickly had to incorporate proprietary and royalty-burdened licensed stuff to keep the professional product viable, as video cameras now have things like RAW video and brand-locked codecs and file formats.

          In my world, any camera that can only shoot to a brand-locked codec with no FOSS implementations (legal or otherwise) is not usable and goes back to the store.
