I’ve switched from the great Xfce to LXQt because of GTK3. GTK3 like systemd is killing linux.
Yes GTK3 has its flaws... but a graphics application that can't be properly configured on a high DPI monitor is just unacceptable. For your desktop environment, fine, feel free to be picky about the look and feel of the toolkit. But for the GIMP, looking a little out of place pales in comparison to being seriously broken on hardware that's standard for any graphics workstation.

Are you the guy from a week ago where I literally screenshotted the gimp gtk chooser to disprove this fallacy? If so. Fuck, update your complaints to actually be accurate.

        The HiDIPI interfaces are great.

What about Inkscape and Audacity? They are still stuck with GTK2 as well. And all these projects should switch to Qt to begin with. Such effort will pay off.

He says that it WILL be forced upon us, not that it already is.

              Overreact much?

I bet you're fun at parties.

Too bad we haven't had GTK3 for years now.
Sadly most users prefer pirate versions of Adobe products over free alternatives. They'd even pay the criminals to get support but have unlimited supply of time when it comes to bashing GIMP.

Not sure about Inkscape, but the Audacity team is interested in GTK3, mainly because of the HiDPI support. But the problem is that it requires them to build Audacity against wxWidgets GTK3 rather than wxWidgets GTK2 but the former is very, very buggy atm. So buggy in fact that Solus rolled back to wxWidgets GTK2.

By the way GTK3 will run natively on MacOS as well, so even if the GTK4 will be released is better that at least GIMP is released with GTK3... GTK4 seems quite better than GTK3 though.

WxWidgets is buggy in general. I know many projects using it had to do many workarounds.

Oh! Your naivety is beautiful! You seem extremely overpositivist. How do you achieve it?

Adobe is evil and offer bloated shit, but their products are very featureful. Also, the Photoshop plugin ecosystem is extremely rich even compared to the Gimp one (that should have a centralized source code repo too).

                      Gimp-Pspi needs some love too...

GIMPshop Reloaded (it's mostly a theme, plus some custom config and a plugin... I hope the GIMP themes system gets improved to be fully implemented as a theme) seems quite interesting for newcomers too.

That's my fear! They are lagging! They are porting to GTK3 when GTK4 is coming.

WTF? What about porting directly to GTK4 instead?
