Better late than never, it would be good to actually fix the issue.

Sharing a screenshot of the boot in verbose mode could be a good start.
We could also generate a debug image based on recent illumos.
Testing images from late July are also available.

Different ways for contacting developers are listed at https://www.openindiana.org/
Please do not hesitate to reach on the mailing lists or open a ticket on the tracker.

    Kind regards,

Do you think he'll do that? It's better for him to just rant. Negative articles provides more visits, that means more revenue

He's trolling just to get more revenue, just like most people do on the Internet. Humanity is going downhill...

Where are these July 2017 snapshot images of Hipster at? All I could find is 2017.04. I'm curious and gonna try OpenIndiana just to see where things stand in development since not trying Solaris-based OSes since NexentaOS.

There is a bug report at OpenIndiana for this article. Seems like they are looking into the installation issues and use of the current Phoronix Test Suite:

            See: https://www.illumos.org/issues/8563
