That was the already revised schedule. IIRC, original schedule for final release was October or November.

BSD is taking an interesting change in direction with CLANG as the default compiler. Lots of other improvements of course, hopefully we will see a review of the final distribution sometime on Phoronix.

The elephant in the room being OS X Mavericks, built with Xcode 5, which is completely based on LLVM, Clang being just a different front end.

I don't think FreeBSD was built with Clang per say.

(Yes, we don't know that some pieces of Mavericks may have been built with GCC, but considering Xcode has shipped with clang as the default compiler since Xcode 4.x, and completely removed with Xcode 5, it is a reasonable assumption.)

I think OS X might have been the first, though at least for a while they were reliant on a specially patched gcc that attached to LLVM's backend.

No, iOS was the first. OSX came second and transitioned from GCC later. PlayStation 4's OrbisOS, which is based on FreeBSD 9 but is not exactly the same as FBSD9, was formally released before FreeBSD 10 and therefore is the third OS.

Agreed. Great news! Thank FBSD developers. I am lazy and so I will wait for the PCBSD ISOs. I may even go back to my PCBSD primary work machine.
