I learned C on the Amiga using Lattice C, a fairly expensive commercial package. I switched to Dillon's DICE because it was better to use. A few months later I got a 386SX-16mhz. I had a goal of compiling his D-Net networking stack to DOS but it didn't match a DOS memory model. It was serial port based using a packet protocol. You could chat and transfer files at the same time. Maybe shell too?

Could not figure out how to get DSynth working. 'dsynth configure' - unimplemented (wasnt only missing feature either)

Ended up doing package build with Synth, despite warning message it's deprecated since Dec 31 2022.

At least finish the damn re-write before deprecating the old utility..
