Does CS:GO have Vulkan already? There is a title that would benefit from it more than any other Valve have, and would massively boost the number of people playing a Vulkan game.

I would love for Valve to create a sequel to Portal 2, it was a great game! ❤️

Looks like current Vulkan implementation on Portal 2 in Linux works worse than OpenGL. https://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gamin..._linux_vulkan/

Try Portal Stories: Mel if you haven't. It's very good and very challenging!

I take it this doesn't make Portal 2 look any better? It's not that demanding by today's standards so I can't see performance being the motivation either but nice experiment all the same.

I wonder if Portal 2 will be dropping for android?

No it doesn't, but it runs quite well on OpenGL these days. I remember when I first tried it on Linux years ago and the frame-rate was really unstable, often dipping far below the 144hz that my monitor ran at. That's not a big deal in most games, but in CS:GO it's a deal-breaker. These days it runs a lot smoother though. Not sure exactly what changed but it's probably the result of several incremental game updates as well as driver updates. Mesa glthread probably helped quite a bit.

Hopefully over time it becomes actually good. There is conceivably some advantage to linking the D3D impl directly into the binary, if they did that.

Makes sense... With DXVK you are getting native DX9 performance in some cases even better than native on Portal.

I have benchmarks coming out later today or tomorrow... depending upon resolution, seeing Vulkan as a big win.
