Oh, you don't wanna go there, Michael...
I fear it'll get downright dirty at this point. I can only hope they can either come up with more technical documentation quickly or they pause their normal production and testing process to get some of the critical things that are broken with fglrx corrected and instead of an 8.02 came out with an 8.07 or 8.08 instead.

I would agree with you, when we would speak about developement version and not official relaise..... better to wait and be positiv surprised then every moths disapointed... will have less peoples switching to nvidia

8.02 - "we think it's stable. you people just don't understand"
or
8.02 - "strange, works for us"
i wish ati would switch to a different release model
new drivers would always come out [obligatory]
- as a hotfix
- when a new kernel/x.org gets released and breaks compatibility
and [ optionally ]
- when developers think they've added new functionality and the relase is stable enough.
tying fglrx release dates to release dates of catalyst for some obsolete commercial solution just doesn't work. this is linux, there are different rules here.

I wait the day ( just dreaming ... ), when AMD merge the developement of fglrx in to xorg.... :-) The way intel did it.
I have a notebook with intel X3100 ( need longer battery time.. ). I put fedoda 8 on it, every thing works for me out of the box... even hdmi output to my HD TV.
So this will be very nice Name "Xorg fglrx" ... :-)
