      And no one said otherwise.
The kernel is lots of code, the mailing list and their use of it as both a communication tool and as a patch submission tool are two entirely different things.
Sure, and one requires much expertise/experience while the other is easily learned with a little research.

All your you have to respect them, Linus himself was very rude very often, and he was like him when he was young, he calls himself dictator, Kent seems to not be rude from what I hear I don't hear him name calling and stuff.

Also in essence it comes down that this requirements that you all like so much, are much more easy to reach for corporations, so the trend that more and more % code is done by the evil corporations will be extended by this approach.

Despite BSD has shortcomings, Kent Overstreet situation is making me considering to switch to a flavor of it .

After 25+ years of using Linux, that is.

Thanks LKML, toxic Linux kernel atmosphere is making me get heavily disgusted and disappointed of Linux.

Anyway, I think Kent should get heavy support and advocacy on LKML. Despite his failures, he doesn't deserve this level of backslash. I'm nobody, but kernel developers can be heard.

Bad response really. It's not boding well for upstreaming at all, unless this thinking will result in actually following suggested guidelines for upstreaming without any bickering. Time to put ego aside and just do stuff.

And I have nothing against upstreaming it, I've been waiting for a while for it. But if there are rules - not following them is not going to help it.

I don't think so, I believe he dumped bcache a long time ago to focus on bcachefs and others that don't really know the codebase that well had to become the guys to fix it.

Okay. But those rules aren'tfollowed by corporate contributors. That's very hypocrite!

Also, other involved members acted even worse than him.

I agree he should have behaved differently, but the other involved parties did a very extreme witch hunt.

That could be, but other involved parties don't care about upstreaming succeeding may be. So it's in his interest to avoid flaming it up since he cares.

It would be very annoying if this upstreaming fails not becasue of some technical issues, but becasue developers couldn't resolve how to work together.

I think the troubling thing about Bcachefs is that there still doesn't appear to be any big money behind it, and it's largely a one-man show. Obviously that makes a difference in the speed of it getting accepted into the kernel. And if the filesystem is to be successful, that can't continue to be the situation going forward.

Well, he should manage this crap differently and change his perspective. I agree on that.

But it's insane and injust those morons doesn't get properly punished.

                      LKML is getting extremely toxic!

Developers often need a "nanny" because of this.

The few really good developers aren't only very skilled technically, but also socially. Those become senior project managers of very big teams.

The majority behave like kindergartens, even the most skilled ones.
