    Working on XVideo? there's a lot better ideas like working on VA-API or VDPAU, rather than on this inefficient old crap which is designed for X.org only.

      It would have been useful for any videos that weren't supported by VDPAU (such as MPEG1, or newer codecs like VP8).

        Wait, for example I'm using Gnome MPlayer with vdpau usage by default - is it switching silently to XVideo when I open a webm/vp8 file? Are you sure it ain't switching to software decoding and painting onto some fall-back canvas?
