Phoronix: Experimental Rockchip Video Codec Linux Driver Posted

There is an experimental Rockchip open-source video codec driver for accelerated video encode/decode posted for the Linux kernel but in its current form isn't suited for mainline inclusion...

I don't have experience with any of the boards yet, although I would probably use it in a different usage than decoding.

    this line in the archive

"The original clocks assignment don't look good, if the clocks
lower than 300MHZ, most of decoing tasks would suffer from
timeout problem, 500MHZ is also a little high for RK3399
    running in a stable state."

I thought it ran default @600MHZ? Or did they change to different chip? Or am I looking at the wrong SOC?

Awesome! With better support, these chipsets might actually be useful for tinkering.

Good one. Be nice to get full Rock64 support (without gpu) into mainline though..
