Option 1: Be working on Wayland
Option 2: Be getting some on V Day

          Hmmm... what could go wrong?

Option 3: Find a hot geek/nerd chick/dude who digs your code and make sweet love to her/him while setting GCC to -O3.

I was about to post the same thing. Reporting about numbers is borderline meaningless. I'd much rather see articles highlighting things that new versions enable (separated into user facing and developer facing features, if possible).

Unless Wayland includes a feature about getting some on V Day.

That's why Michael put the reference link in the article: http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?pag...q=Wayland+1.10

Neither of those are good options if you're looking for a small set of change highlights while you skim through your morning news articles though. The mailing list is too much noise to content, the list of articles are too vague and often just point out that something is being worked on, not whether it landed. This would have been a better article with a short list of changes.

Edit: It would also have taken substantially more time / effort to write, and I understand Michael doesn't have the resources to devote that effort to every article when he has to maintain such a high volume of articles to keep the page views up / stay in business.
