    Unity is GNOME.

The ting is, he didn't need to know anything about kwin to understand his blog post was bollocks, only about mir. Either he didn't really have any technical knowledge about their software or he lied.

Unity is not part of GNOME project. Although it uses GTK+ and some of GNOME apps we see growing divergence between GNOME and Ayatana as we speak.

I'm not sure he really knows how Mir and Wayland work, he has Canonical Engineering team for that. He is a businessman and visionary, that's why Canonical employs full-time developers.

About how much canonical care about servers. Read Scott James Remnants blog post http://netsplit.com/2012/10/30/goodbye-ubuntu/ funny as it is upstart related.

He shouldn't care about KDE ,or at least , they shouldn't care about kwin or the plasma desktop, precisely the KDE sub projects that are in direct conflict with Unity.

If they had this sort of influence they should not need libhybris. So apparently they have not the power to get Nvidia and the rest to care about their armplattform (probably their prio 1 platform this days). Why are you so sure it is different with the x86 platform?
