      Indeed good to see that they are approaching these sensibly and through a peer review process.

      I recently read through the discussion on ext-placement and it was quite impressive to see how much these proposals improve over time.
      It is understandable that the involved people prefer this over implementing several, possibly conflicting, versions due to rushing things.

      Kudos to Matthias for driving this and diligently incorporating other stakeholders' feedback.

        Not all of them. E.g. the alpha-modifier protocol landed in just over a month.

        The main reason for some protocols taking a long time is simply that designing a good protocol is hard.
