      But this standard will be supported by every GPU, and the same VA-API, VDPAU can be implemented on its basis, similar to dxvk, vk3d, zink.

        Nothing magic it was build to support any future codec by just having any feature the devs could thing of at the time (VFR for example). The thing is, it can be extended with any codec you wish. No reason why this shouldn't be possible for a video API.
