Phoronix: Mesa 22.2 Pushed Back By Two Weeks To Let More Features Land

Mesa 22.2 as the quarterly feature update to this collection of open-source predominantly OpenGL and Vulkan graphics drivers has been pushed back by two weeks. This delay is for allowing more last minute features to land, which will hopefully ensure that Intel Arc Graphics and RDNA3 support is in better shape for this release...

Mesa 22.2 might be delayed further then that.

    See https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/.../34#tab-issues , especially issue 6615 wrt llvm 15 .

Patching it to work with LLVM 15 is not a feature but a bug fix. Could they release Mesa 22.2 as it is working with the latest stable LLVM release (14), and for fixed LLVM compatibility to come in a point-release (22.2.1)?
A ton of other big projects get broken with new LLVM releases, e.g. `intel-graphics-compiler` took so long to get fixed with 14, so it wouldn't be so unusual.

        According to this, yes: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/...5#note_1448253

        > Fedora 37 is planning to ship (at the end of October) with LLVM 15. Since it seems unlikely that it could ship with Mesa 22.3, I've set the Mesa 22.2 Release Blocker milestone for this issue.

        > In the worst case, it might be possible to fix this during the 22.3 cycle and backport the fixes to the 22.2 branch. But it would likely need to happen by August/September at the latest.

I'm lazy, so I'm always for procrastination. Let's let them take their time.
