Is it another clone of Anvil like Radv?

Yep, as I understand it turnip descended from radv, which descended from anv.

I'm very excited to see more open source Vulkan drivers in Mesa! Congratulations to everyone who worked (and is working) so hard on this!

Unexpected! But great to see a new Vulkan driver.

Turnip eh? Let's see if the developers can resist the temptation of naming something related "Baldrick" because I can't imagine this being very likely if there are any lovers of British comedy among them.

Kayden BNieuwenhuizen regarding the name of the projects, why Anvil and Turnip? Does it has any meaning?

              Too many plays on words.

Vulkan is spelled like Vulcan, the roman god of the forge, which have anvils, which shorten to anv, which is a nice three letter prefix. It may also stand for Antelope Valley, which is a two-word place in California, and therefore looks a lot like an Intel codename. :)

              Perhaps Bas can explain Turnip.

It's pretty cool that for Bas Nieuwenhuizen this is a 20% project.

Interesting. Does anyone know if Freedreno is actually used on any production device? Are any Android phones using Freedreno, or going to use it?
