Phoronix: Gallium Nine With NIR Is Now Running Most D3D9 Games "Flawlessly"

Towards the beginning of the month we reported on the Gallium Nine state tracker working on NIR support as an alternative to its original focus on the common TGSI intermediate representation to Gallium3D. That NIR-ified version of Gallium Nine is now working and beginning to run most Direct3D 9 games fine...

Maybe some games that have not yet been tested. They are Schrodinger games until then.

I suppose you could call it the "theory of playability" (in physics, just about everything is called a "theory" simply because it isn't possible to test and prove everything in the universe).

It means we don't have every D3D9 game. We own a finite number of D3D9 games, and tested nine + nir with those games. We also have some API traces from past bug reports, and also used those for testing. So far what we tested worked well. That's all.

"No one" said "most games in this world" but "most games we tested", so that could be even just two games out of which one works OK and another one halfly

"No one" have every game, developer could test few that he have, then maybe he could check things on traces collection, but that is usually that

edit: article have "Flawlessly" under quotation marks and I put "No one" also under that, because maybe somebody still have ALL THE GAMES, but i don't know him

Same way "No one" have all the GPUs, etc... and not tested it on 300+ plus their variants linux distros Still, if you tested it on just few major distros, there is great chance it will work elsewhere too

Arch, Debian, Gentoo, Fedora... games tested, other games hopefully

That was fast! Is there a way to test this on Steam Play without applying Gallium Nine Standalone to every prefix?

Sonic and All Stars Racing, which crashes frequently using Gallium Nine.
