Not releasing programming specifications is going to eventually cost nVidia billions.
Either nVidia management is utterly stupid (unlikely), or there is some other factor involved here ... such as nVidia getting paid handsomely by someone to keep programming specifications a trade secret and thereby make it difficult to write independent drivers. Can you say "anti-trust"?
