Perhaps Red Hat should pressure Nvidia to release firmware binaries in a timely matter.

I would much rather Nvidia prioritize proper EGL support, but, this is a good start anyway.

So, may be Nvidia wants to stop using the blob for the kernel driver an finally work with upstream? Given their history, it's unlikely, but who knows. May be growing pressure from AMD is affecting them.

I don't expect that either, until they'll lose market share a lot.

Why invest in closed source NVidia, when AMD ROCm look promising in near future.

They are investing in open source stack, not in the blob if I understood correctly.
