Not really, that windows driver didn't exist on linux when it was launched and took well over a year to fork. It's easy to imagine it took something like 5 0r 10 thousand man hours to do. If you figure 40 hours per week per man. That was a massive waste.

Nonsense. Huge weight has been lifted of AMD shoulders. AMD has more resources. And they finally will be able to increase productivity.

Only in those games that were designed for this driver.

Michael, AMD is going to port fixes from RADV to AMDVLK?

Not necessarily. The RADV team has been taking advantage of that code, so it wasn't a complete waste. It's just a shame they didn't release it sooner.

it could be done in one day by copypasting whole driver

you wasted a lot of time reading and posting shit
amd developed driver for windows which is 99% of their customers
and now it is used by radv devs

lol. completely backwards when your "program" is a compiler, which vulkan driver is

don't stop yourself, imagine millions. btw, how many thousand man hours was wasted by radv devs, according to your imagination?

AMDVLK has platform abstraction architecture that fits the AMD development model by reusing code between Linux and Windows. This is good for not only to AMD (for obvious reasons) but also to us because as I suppose will lead to more actively developed and tested components.
