Are the radeon drivers you are using from the main Ubuntu repos? Did you have to make any changes to xorg.conf?

Edit:

Fixed the issue. I had disabled the 2.6.27-3 kernel as it gave me a blank screen, and 2.6.27-7 didn't upgrade GRUB's menu.lst

Enabling 2.6.27-7 with the fglrx drivers from repos works great.
