Phoronix: Radeon RX 550 Stumbles On Open-Source, Working Fine With AMDGPU-PRO

This week I decided to pick up the Gigabyte Radeon RX 550 2GB graphics card for Linux testing at Phoronix, a $90 USD graphics card that was recently launched as part of the "Polaris Evolved" line-up. It's not working on the upstream open-source code-base at the moment, but at least does function with the latest AMDGPU-PRO 17.10 driver for the RX 500 series...

      I reported this last week:

They missed a break and Polaris 12 initialization falls through to Vega.

There's a patch on the bug which fixes it.

Fedora 25 comes with the blobs for Polaris 10, 11, and 12, so it should be plug-n-play.

Edit: ok yes looks like its an initialization bug.

It seems the pro driver supports OpenGL ES 4.5

That is improvment, i think fglrx wasn't throwing any ES version under glxinfo

Yep, working well. Glad Marek jumped on it now to land the fix.

So we can say maybe - RX 550 officially enabled 15 days upon launch
