    OK, so we need some other benchmark. That link still is a rating number from a whatever-mark type of tool, not raw fps from e.g. a quake timedemo.

      Older benches like OA, Prey, r500 cards beat Haswell easily, mainly due to faster (& more) VRAM. Newer benches Haswell leads, more shader power.

        Thx, that basically confirms what I was saying :-). My conclusion is that even those older GPUs are perfectly fine for normal desktop usage even with some desktop effects.

          One day I even run Nvidia Vanta (1999) in 2012 on Debian Lenny with proprietary drivers and transparency was working.
          Though other hardware was like from 2001-2002, but that doesn't change the fact...

              Still rocking an R500 daily. It's not like vi & xterm need much GPU, I'll upgrade when the machine stops booting. =)
