        No, it's mostly the X upgrade. Glamor went through a bunch of optimizations.

        The Mesa upgrade surely helped a bit too, though.

          Hmm... X upgrade is too complicated to implement without doing a full distro upgrade. The 2d on F20 for AMD-7770K is marginally painful when dealing with a full load of business applications spread across a pair of 1920x1200's. Guess I'll wait on F21 and see how that improves the situation.
