If I'm having a RV350 or something like that I would have used the open source driver and laugh god darn it
But in fact we R500/R600 users are being pissed off yet again that's something You've never experienced!
The slow scroll thing, I've noticed it since 8.41. I've only tried 8.41 for 2 days and rolled back to 8.40. Now the first impression of installing 8.42 was, up on log in to X, white border all over the gnome panel and menus, choppy animation in opening windows, super flacky video and opengl applications, totally disappointed! Tried fire up Quake 4 and load a level... vola! Heavy screen corruption from middle to bottom half of screen! This must due to their broken Hi-Z in the driver. Don't ask me why I know that, I've been a D3D programmer for over 10 years.
If you've been through this open-browser-type-in-phoronix-prey-they-announce-fglrx-8.42-every-day-in-the-morning sort of life, I bet you would have had worse reactions than most of us! I really don't wanna bash on people so don't be an ass and force me to do so.
Even running in Xgl with 8.42 still didn't solve the laggy scroll and open problem, the problem must have introduced in the new OGL code base.
