    Perhaps they are using compiz from GIT/CVS/Svn

      My stuff started working. Basically I had installed 9.12 and just now installed 10.2.

      I've doubled checked it is the 10.2 driver and all my compiz effects are now working.. wtf

        I don`t know about compiz but I like this release.
        My games are working and I get tear free video with SMPlayer and gl output.
        The tearing video was my biggest pain with previous drivers.

        I have KDE 4.4 on Gentoo

            Tear-free video with GL has worked for ages now. You probably simply had VSync disabled in CCC.

              Nope. I enabled it and still got tearing. Dont know why.
              But now I dont need to enable it and have no tearing.

                    Best way to install this driver is definitely booting into recovery mode if in Ubuntu.

                    I noticed I got the black screen if I installed while in Xorg.

                    When I booted to recovery mode and installed I had no problems.
