i consider a best display to be one with good color reproduction and minimum input lag/ghosting. there's nothing which can magically improve display by putting it inside of tv box, adding extra unneeded hardware and optimizing for non-interactive use

I consider a best display to be one that is capable of 4K @ 120 Hz + HDR.

I bet the displays that can fill this requirements are 99% TVs and 1% monitors.

Any ideas if any of these patches are related to VP9 decoding ? Navi cards never pretty much supported proper Youtube VP9 decoding on Linux, including on chromium-vaapi.

actually, any format would do as long as it is 4:4:4... i mean, it's been years and amd still cannot do 4:4:4 encode?

nvidia and intel both support it by now (nvidia from maxwell+ and intel from ice lake+) so why not amd?!

since computer video output standard is called displayport, i hope that rdna 2 will come with displayport 2.0.

Maybe thats why Nvidia doesn't want to open up. They simply fear linux people like skeevy420 deciphering their future products by analyzing cover names embedded in their codebase.
