... which are really working fine. Well done openSuSE Team.

However, there's still THE SAME old PROBLEM - the FLICKERING, when playing flash or video files (Mobility X1600 GDDR3 256 MB).

    AMD.ATI - YOU LET-DOWN US, YOUR CUSTOMERS !

Before building the package (step 3 in first post) open the packaging script packages/SuSE/ati-packager.sh and change the rpmbuild command (line 93) from
      Code:
      rpmbuild -bb --root ${TmpDrvFilesDir} --target ${ARCH} ${TmpPkgSpec} > ${TmpPkgBuildOut} 2>&1
      into
      Code:
      rpmbuild -bb --root ${TmpDrvFilesDir} --target ${ARCH} ${TmpPkgSpec} 2>&1

      Hi knubert

I have followed your instructions in posting #1 and then in #9. Unfortunately I still can't build the package.
Here is the last part of the log text after trying to do the building:
      ...
      + install -m 644 amdcccle.desktop /tmp/ati.RN5M6B/usr/share/applications
      + install -m 644 amdccclesu.desktop /tmp/ati.RN5M6B/usr/share/applications
      + install -m 755 libatiadlxx.so /tmp/ati.RN5M6B/usr/lib
      + install -m 755 libAMDXvBA.cap libAMDXvBA.so.1.0 libXvBAW.so.1.0 /tmp/ati.RN5M6B/usr/lib
      + install -m 755 libamdcaldd.so libamdcalrt.so libamdcalcl.so /tmp/ati.RN5M6B/usr/lib
      + install -m 755 libdri.so /tmp/ati.RN5M6B/usr/lib/xorg/modules/updates/extensions
      + test -f libglx.so
      + popd
      /usr/src/packages/BUILD
      + pushd /tmp/ati.RN5M6B/usr/src/kernel-modules/fglrx
      /tmp/ati.RN5M6B/usr/src/kernel-modules/fglrx /usr/src/packages/BUILD
      + patch -p0 -s
/tmp/ati.RN5M6B/var/tmp/rpm-tmp.35176: line 141: patch: command not found
error: Bad exit status from /tmp/ati.RN5M6B/var/tmp/rpm-tmp.35176 (%install)

      RPM build errors:
Bad exit status from /tmp/ati.RN5M6B/var/tmp/rpm-tmp.35176 (%install)
      Package build failed!

Any idea what may have caused this error?

      Thanks a ton
      Andrei

          Hi

First of all, thank you for the very quick reply and your willingness to help me with this matter.
Well, I have installed patch and ran again the builder. No luck again.
Here is the new last part of the log:
          ...
          /usr/src/packages/BUILD
          + pushd /tmp/ati.WsvATg/usr/src/kernel-modules/fglrx
          /tmp/ati.WsvATg/usr/src/kernel-modules/fglrx /usr/src/packages/BUILD
          + patch -p0 -s
patch unexpectedly ends in middle of line
2 out of 6 hunks FAILED -- saving rejects to file firegl_public.c.rej
error: Bad exit status from /tmp/ati.WsvATg/var/tmp/rpm-tmp.58469 (%install)

          RPM build errors:
Bad exit status from /tmp/ati.WsvATg/var/tmp/rpm-tmp.58469 (%install)
          Package build failed!

          Gratefully yours

            Hi andrei,

patch seems to be working fine now, but it does not like the patch-files - maybe the 8-11 package was changed meanwhile?

Anyways, why don't you try 8-12 or, better yet, 9-1? These versions have fixed packagers for SuSE systems.

            Cheers,
            knutbert

              Hi knutbert

Please excuse me for not posting you on this matter, but a couple of days later I succeeded to build the package - unfortunately the problem persisted, in the sense that after performing all your instructions and rebooted nothing was displayed again, the X server stubbornly refusing to start (in fact the error said something like "it couldn't find any display device" or so).
I gave up. After all, I don't use this computer for games or any other high graphics demanding stuff: just for my work.

Thank you again for you kindness to help me

              Gratefully yours
              Andrei
