Talk to you again in a year or so when AMD has both a kickass closed source driver with more releases and a fully functional Open Source Gallium3D driver

At least this gives people something to use, so at the time AMD releases something that works, there might be a few OpenCL apps out there that we can use.

Good point. If you're already a lot ahead, it's not a definitive sign of improved performance that you stay ahead. Your competitor might just not have had enough time to catch you up yet.

Well, remember that AMD released a CPU oriented OpenCL beta a few months ago.

Which happens to be completely broken on windows (functions are decorated with a "_" prefix, meaning you can't even link against the library). The Linux version thankfully works a little better than that, but still...
