Phoronix: Intel Skylake Vulkan Support Appears To Be Working Out Pretty Well

Taking a break from all my NVIDIA Vulkan Linux testing, I decided to install the Intel Anvil Vulkan driver on my main Fedora system this morning for taking the Skylake support for a test drive...

Should have tested it on Gnome/Wayland, too. There is a wsi_wayland.c file in the code tree of the anvil driver.

The binaries did not even work for Nvidia on my box. vulkaninfo worked as expected.

Haswell is Gen 7.5. Announcement says that Haswell support is experimental, as well as Ivy Bridge and all 32 bit OS support. Devs on IRC have said that the testing and certification was only done on Broadwell / Skylake. Also, daniels mentioned that a newer kernel might be needed for vulkan when someone asked for Ivy Bridge (Gen 7).

                Haswell is gen7 graphics.

I'm curious to test out these on my Gen8 graphics Broadwell at home ( NUC5i5RYH machine )

I've added Vulkan support (for Intel) to my live mesa ebuild here: https://github.com/sjnewbury/gentoo-opencl

It also integrates beignet, and has highly experimental GLVND support.
