    Are you unaware that the Xe HPG card (from the article) is the upcoming high-end desktop card? That's the one that's being confirmed has ray tracing.

    HPG = high performance gaming

      That is simply up to what benefits Vulkan gives over DXR benefits. DXR has clearly benefit in that it is API used on Xbox, what means developer doesn't have to do twice the work with coding it, Vulkan meanwhile has advantage of being better for Linux, Android and MacOS. However it is worth mentioning DX12 and Vulkan are much more similar then for example OpenGL and DX11, what could mean it won't be uncommon to see both in engines of game (for example RDR2 has both DX12 and Vulkan implemented and Vulkan is recommended).

      Also I think from perspective of big company, it is easier to push changes to Vulkan as "optional extension" comparing to push changes to DX12.
