where does this bullshit come from?

ex4 and zfs are obsolete. either xfs over { md or lvm raid } or btrfs with builtin raid

it is impossible to understand since 1080ti will never get mainline support

*ANY* loop *IS* air cooling system. water just replaces heatpipes, it still requires air cooler to cool water. real water cooling needs river.

zfs on linux doesn't go anywhere, you can always check https://github.com/torvalds/linux/tree/master/fs in case of doubt

So far you're the only one questioning my claims. I feel confident enough in them that you can google search the proof yourself, with the source of your choosing. No cherry picking results necessary. You're a big boy and don't need to be spoonfed, right? Remember, this is in regards to high-performance drives in real-world applications. I figure cheap, SATA II, and/or SLC SSDs might see an overall performance improvement in RAID, but quality M.2 drives won't.

Note I'm not saying RAID0 won't offer performance improvements, but for M.2 drives you will see a performance loss in pretty much any task that doesn't do sequential I/O.

For what its worth, i own an x86 motherboard from asrocks workstation/server line. It has linux officialy listed as supported. When i got the board there were some issues with getting the onboard sata controller to work properly in linux. I contacted the support and got fast and good support where they provided me with a beta version of uppcomming firmware that fixed my issue and mentioned minimum kernel version needed. So atleast asrock do officialy list linux as supported, and provide support.

I have have good experience with asrock even with their consumer motherboards that dont list linux as supproted, with them helping out ( that time with getting iommu working in linux ).

Thats why that is one of the brands i tend to recommend to people running linux.
