    With substantial government funding, LoongArch has a lot of potential to become a very good CPU platform. Unfortunately we probably won’t ever see it sold commercially outside of China.

      Despite LoongArch being Chinese and probably will have export restrictions in the future, I like the idea of that binary translation for these three CPU architectures.

      Add PowerPC and a high end log nm LoongArch CPU and it can be amazing even for console emulators if able to put a good PCIe GPU on that system.



      (Can it play Counter Strike smoothlu? The new one or the old one?)

      The Loongson binary translation application solution supports the installation and operation of the Loongson platform applications on the Loongson platform through three Loongson binary translation systems:
      - LATM: LAT from MIPS
      - LATA: LAT from ARM
      - LATX: LAT from X86​

          LoongArch's irrelevant in the face of RISC-V, which is big in China too.

          In a few years time, the company behind LoongArch will have switched to RISC-V anyway.

            I find it interesting how China's LoongArch seems to be growing an ecosystem of hardware and software, while Russia's Elbrus2k is not progressing at all and doesn't even have official Linux kernel support.

                More details on the LBT functionality can be found via the LoongArch ISA guide.​
                That isn't true. That is a link to volume 1 of the documentation, which documents the regular LoongArch ISA.
                The binary translation features are supposed to be described in volume 2, which still consists of only an empty page.

                That makes the only "documentation" available that I could find be a couple of technical reports written in Chinese published a few years ago.
                For me interested in these things, and not reading Chinese, this has been quite frustrating.
