Anyone know what these changes are licensed under because they sound like they would be a God send to other operating systems as well!

Interesting, can you provide some more info on this? I have been working on making the mainline kernel fully support Bay Trail and Cherry Trail based tablets for a couple of years now, including making the mainline kernel work on x86 tablets which actually shipped with (an ancient) Android.

As such I'm definitely interested in actually getting Android running on these (besides "regular" Linux) on top of a mainline kernel. I am aware of: https://www.android-x86.org/ are you working on that ?

currently the only active public communities are pretty much blisslabs projects BlissOS https://blissos.org/ and waydroid https://waydro.id/. Bliss OS being native android running on hardware or VMs, and waydroid being android run inside of LXC, a lot of public ax86 development right now is oriented around these two projects.

if you wanted to get in touch Bliss and waydroid both are on Matrix/telegram that are bridged, and BlissLabs has a discord group too. the respective community chats are on the website, I primarily focus more on VMs (currently qemu is the best supported) getting them optimized and documenting them most of the devel work is being done by Huy Minh and Jon west. on the Bliss OS side, and on waydroid alessandro astone. code does eventually make it upstream, but for the public work and getting involved, Bliss is for sure the best avenue to go for now. as for baytrail support, I actually had BlissOS android 9 running on an Asus t100ta (Z3740) with fairly decent support though that device has since been retired due to physical damage by clumsy kids

but for sure the matrix or telegram is the best way to get a hold of either parties and to learn more, I've been working on documentation as much as possible, but time is in short supply lately.
